Quincy Center remains dominant South Shore tourist spot during tough economical times

During these unsure and stagnant financial times, many areas south of Boston are experiencing a noticeable decline in tourism, however, according to a recent study conducted at Quincy College, Quincy Center is showing none of these signs.

In fact, the tourism rate in this particular area of Quincy has gone up 12% since this time last year, making city officials wonder what they are doing right, and how they can keep doing it.

"Quincy Center is a thriving area of commerce," stated Matty Southside, a South Quincy local who remembers traveling to Quincy Center as a young boy to steal toys from Child World. "If Quincy was Italy, Quincy Center would be Venice. It's a place for lovers. Nothing says 'I love you' like a couple of drafties and a plate of mozzarella sticks at the Half Door. And it certainly doesn't hurt that you'll probably never have a problem getting weed there, either. You throw a rock in Quincy Center, chances are, you're gonna hit somebody that has a shitload of weed on them. It's the little things in life that you remember most, and Quincy Center is full of them."

But what exactly is it about Quincy Center that brings the tourism here? Is it the skipping high school students hanging out at the Quincy Center train station, huffing propel from a can in broad daylight? Is it the homeless guy that looks just like Richard Nixon, who, if you catch him on the right day, has no problem saying "I'm not a crook" for a little spare change? Is it the charred remnants of what used to be Taso's Pizza and the Exchange karaoke bar that have blessed the Quincy Center strip with their hardened, fire damaged appearance for the past decade? When it comes down to it, no one can be sure.

"Who cares what the reason is," commented Mayor Koch, as he hurried past to punch off the clock at 2:30PM. "Let the money roll in, and never ask where it comes from. That's the Quincy way.

"No matter what the reason is, Quincy Center is seeing a great rise in the number of those who come to visit our city and experience our soothing and scenic landscapes. From the countless Irish pubs to the never-ending row of Vietnamese nail salons, Quincy Center has a little something to offer everyone. And if the summer goes anywhere near as well as predicted, this beautiful city may finally have enough money in the budget to pay for that ridiculous shag carpeting job the mayor had done to his office just moments after his acceptance speech. And if the mayor's happy, we're happy, because Quincy residents love their mayor, even if he is the size of a small child.

Koch being the size of a small child is the only reason you can even like him. It's hard to hat little people.

this "If Quincy was Italy, Quincy Center would be Venice. It's a place for lovers. Nothing says 'I love you' like a couple of drafties and a plate of mozzarella sticks at the Half Door." is the best thing I've ever heard.

Is that Moranzo tweaking his nipples? I'd say a show like that is reason enough for people to travel to Quincy.
